We perfected the design of our Farrowing Hut in the mid 1990s, in collaboration with leading outdoor pig producers in the UK and Europe. More than 20 years on, it’s in use worldwide, and has become the standard by which all others are judged. Both independent research, and our customers’ experience, show that sows housed in Farrowing Huts produce bigger, stronger litters that go on to achieve higher weaning weights.
Every aspects of our Farrowing Hut has been carefully designed with welfare and easy management in mind. The sloped sides provide safe spaces for pigs, reducing the risk of their being crushed. Huts are supplied fully insulated as standard: as well as retaining vital warmth in winter, this helps sows remain indoors nursing their litters in hot weather, rather than wallowing outside. A vent in the back, also fitted as standard, permits ventilation and viewing, while the large central doorway makes it easy for you to see inside without having to enter the hut, at a time when sows can become spooky and defensive.
All our Farrowing Huts are constructed on a tough timber subframe in fully galvanized steel for long life and low maintenance. Lifting hooks are fitted as standard.
We offer our Farrowing Huts in two sizes, the smaller model suitable for gilts, and the larger designed for adult sows.
